From the first time Casey was lowered into the pool at the local Y’s Mommy/Baby swim class, she has lived and loved the fit life. With an avid marathoner for a mother, a competitive triathlete for a father, and a grandmother renowned as Erie, PA’s finest swim coach, there were always people supporting and encouraging Casey’s athletic ambitions. Her dreams evolved from running a mile and clinching the 6 & Under summer swim league championship into finishing her first half marathon and attending a top academic college on a Division I swimming scholarship. Dreams became reality, and in 2008 Casey found herself an invaluable member of the Davidson College swim team. Accustomed to an intense training program in a competitive environment, Casey was hesitant when her swim coach recommended yoga as a training supplement to improve flexibility, strength, and, ultimately, race times. Her race times did indeed improve, but it was the unexpected shift in understanding that Casey found the most rewarding. Mentally, physically, and emotionally, she felt transformed; every experience was laced with a newfound sense of empowerment and confidence as well as tranquility and gratitude. Eager to share the power of cultivating this mind/body/spirit connection with others, Casey received her 200RYT after graduating and hasn’t looked back. She teaches yogis of all levels at Yoga Shala studio in Dilworth, and has especially enjoyed working with athletes, teaching weekly Yoga for Runners classes at TrySports South Park as well as clinics geared to student athletes and self-love workshops. She is once again in awe at the effects of yoga as a complement to training as she prepares for her first marathon in January. Casey still loves the feeling of being athletically competitive and physically challenged, but now her passion lies in the creation of a prosperous, thriving lifestyle on every level, physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual. She cherishes the mindset of wellbeing cultivated through healthy habits like daily exercise, nutritious diet, consistent yoga, and adequate sleep, and she can’t wait to share this passion with others. Casey is thrilled to join Kelly and Meg in their work of empowering people to develop strength and balance in both body and mind and achieve their wildest dreams.
